Our Treatments
Physiotherapy
This well established form of treatment can be used to treat many physical conditions, including back and neck injuries, arthritis, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, sports injuries etc. We can also offer rehabilitation for neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis, strokes and head injuries. Our approach involves hands on techniques including massage, mobilisation, manual traction and manipulation, as well as a full range of exercises, stretches, postural and lifestyle advice.
At Apothecary Natural Health Centre we provide treatments tailored to you as an individual. As well as assessing and treating the affected area, we assess and rebalance the whole body and work with you to regain fitness and stamina.
Our aim is to help you get back to work, sport and the things in life you want to do.
Acupuncture
This is a versatile form of treatment which can be used to treat a wide range of conditions, both acute and longterm, and rebalance the body as a whole. During the treatment very fine needles are inserted into specific points along specific channels of qi (energy). The procedure is virtually painless and many people experience a feeling of relaxation during and after the session.
We assess and treat you as an individual, looking at all aspects of your health and lifestyle. Traditional Chinese methods of diagnosis are used, which include taking your pulse, looking at your tongue and observing your posture. We then discuss the best approach to treatment - often a combination of acupuncture and tuina massage - and work with you to support changes in your diet, exercise, relaxation and general lifestyle.
Tuina Chinese Massage
At Apothecary we have a particular specialism in tuina Chinese massage. This versatile and effective therapy, probably the precursor of acupuncture alongside which it is often used, has grown and developed over the past few thousand years. It can be used to treat a wide range of conditions, both physical and internal, including: joint pain, injuries and imbalances; migraine and tension headaches, IBS and digestive imbalances, asthma and respiratory conditions, menstrual and fertility issues, insomnia and anxiety. The techniques are often gentle, but the effects deep and long lasting. It is usually administered through light clothing.
